Mgt: Food allergies may present during infancy. If he has started solids, note any skin or other symptoms relation to his food intake. This will help your PCP in determining the cause.

Doubt it: True gluten allergy likely develops over time in those predisposed through genetics and or lifestyle. An infants immature immune system is very susceptible to this.Breastfeeding also does not expose the kid to wheat, rye, barley or other typical sources of gluten needed to cause the problem.Infants can have food allergies/intolerances which the babies doc could help sort out.

Dermatitis: If you or your wife have respiratory allergies and your son has dry skin then the most likely diagnosis is atopic dermatitis. Assuming that breast feeding is not exclusive then Gluten allergy is way down on the list of possible causes. If caused by an allergy at all think about milk egg wheat (not gluten) or soy.
