Use normal saline: Nasal congestion alone can be managed with nasal saline drops. Use 2-5 drops in each side of nose as often as necessary. Monitor for signs if worsening such as poor feeding, fast or heavy breathing, and fever as this might indicate need for further evaluation by your pediatrician.

Moisten him: Before you go to the pediatrician for a 'sick visit', consider giving him warm, moist air. Put a mister in his room while he sleeps and give him 1-2 drops of saline into each nostril a few times each day. If he's still congested or seems unwell, hit the pediatrician's office asap.
