A member asked:

3yr old has wet cough, stuffy nose, no fever, cough is worse at night, chest/lungs sound clear. cold?allergies?pediatrician put her on bromfed (brompheniramine) for 3days

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Use pain relief med : Depending on how long the problem has been there and having just been seen, I would make her comfortable with medicines like Tylenol, (acetaminophen) esp at bedtime. If her cough worsens or if fever returns you should have her re- examined. Appears viral for now. Normal saline nose drops may help cough as well as stuffy nose. If problem is recurrent or seasonal then allergy should be considered.
