Not Lifting.: If what you are describing is true, a thorough biomechanical evaluation of both feet is in order. A good clinical eye should be able to determine if this "lifting" phenomena is recent, old, or in reality, a much more involved issue.

FOREFOOT VARUS: I don't see your age, but it would be most rare for these metatarsals to suddenly "lift up." It sounds more like a foot structure problem you've had all your life, and it's now become apparent for whatever reason. The biomechanical term is "forefoot varus." You should have a complete biomechanical exam from a foot specialist.
