A member asked:

Can anaplastic thyroid cancer be found on ultrasound? is the nodule or appaerance solid, cystic or both. would the radiologist be able to tell?

Final diagnosis: Sonography can give clues but the ultimate diagnosis of cancer of the thyroid depends on the results of a biopsy.

Tissue diagnosis: A diagnosis of anaplastic thyroid cancer would require removing part or whole of the lesion/nodule and examination by a pathologist. Radiology has not progressed enough in resolution to make this diagnosis.
