A member asked:

Calf pain for 3 weeks. ultrasound negative d dimer 279 which they told me was negative. should i be worried about a clot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: A negative D dimer test is 97-98% effective in ruling out venous thrombosis. You still need to be evaluated and treated for the leg pain. If you are overweight, lose weight (easier said than done). For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex.
