A member asked:

May have inhaled fingernail today. i know it's not in larynx but not much else (went to dr abroad, limited language ability). what if nail's in lungs?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends on size and: other symptoms. If it is large enough to cause a bronchial obstruction and you inhaled it deep enough, you will probably develop an infection behind the obstruction. Chances are pretty good that you did not inhale it, if you don't have a cough or fever. If you do develop symptoms, an x-ray or CT scan should be able to image the area.
