Asthma: If your child is not well controlled on his current asthma regimen, please discuss with your doctor. You should have a plan for exacerbations, which can occur with viral infections, colds, or even cold exposure. He could also have a more significant chest infection needing attention.

Sinusitis too: Needs to be ruled out, very common in asthmatics to have upper airways involvement, nasal /sinus inflammation, if not treated can lead to uncontrolled asthma. Please recheck with your son's doctor, also consider referral to an allergist/immunologist, check aaaai.org or acaai.org for an allergist in your area, good luck
