Sounds typical: Parents should contact the doctor if their child is wheezing. Wheezing is a noise a person makes when exhaling (breathing out). The noise is due to obstruction to the air flowing out of the lungs. Wheezing can be a serious problem. If a baby or toddler get bronchiolitis from RSV or other viruses, or gets wheezing for some other reason... watch for recurrent wheezing, which would be called asthma.

Recurrent wheezing with colds is one form of asthma and a management plan may include starting Albuterol. A flu vaccination is recommended unless otherwise contraindicated.
