Prob Breath Holding: When one tries to clear the sinuses or back of throat they generally hold their breath, otherwise the mucous you have gathered in your mouth could be inhaled. . Normal Breathing rate for you is 12-18 breaths/min (every 3-5 seconds). If you R trying to clear mucous and swallow you may not breathe for 30-60 seconds. Hold your breath for 60 seconds and see how you feel.
