No: An x ray will not show nerve damage as there are basically 5 densities on an x ray: metal, bone, soft tissue, fat and air. Nerves get lost with all other soft tissues. MRI research using diffusion weighted imaging is just starting to directly see pathology in peripheral nerves. Nerve damage otherwise is a clinical diagnosis. Often nerves regenerate slowly, so don't feel hopeless.
