Oral medicine: A doctor competent in oral medicine would be best, although they are hard to find and may even be overkill. An oral surgeon would be a good choice, you may inquire if they treat "oral lesions" ahead of time. This would go for dentists as well. Infectious disease specialist would likely not be a first choice for cold sores or lesions at the corner of the mouth. For an md, start with your primary.
