It depends: Some general dentists are experienced and comfortable with removing wisdom teeth, while many are not. All oral surgeons should be comfortable and experienced with the procedure. If there are any other significant health issues or potential complications, definitely go with the surgeon. It might be more expensive, but all things being equal, i would go with the oral surgeon.

Maybe: General dentists are subject to the same standards as oral surgeons when removing teeth. Some general dentists have experience and no problems in removing wisdom teeth so it depends on your general dentist's comfort level. In contrast i'm sure an oral surgeon will be comfortable removing your wisdom teeth.

Depends: A general dentist is trained in this procedure, however, oral surgeons are specialists in this procedure. If the patient is medically compromised or it is a difficult surgery, an oral surgeon would be best.

Depends: There is no right or wrong answer here. Many general dentists are fine surgeons and remove wisdom teeth all the time. If you feel comfortable with your general dentist, trust your dentist, and he or she routinely performs these procedures, then i say go for it ! keep smiling !
