Yes, it can be.: Decreases serum C3 or C4 could either forecast or mark a renal flare, not always seen in SLE. If you have/had at least 4 of the 11 disorders there is a strong chance that you have lupus. 1. Malar rash 2. Discoid rash 3. Photosensitivity 4. Oral ulcers 5. Arthritis 6. Serositis 7. Kidney 8. Neurological 9. Blood 10. Immunologic (A-DNA, A -SM A -PhL) antibodies 11. ANA
