Lack of calories : The most likely cause would be lack of calories and protein. If you are breast-feeding it is possible that your breastmilk is not contain enough water fat and protein. It would be important to place your child on formula and see what happens over a weeks time. A child should gain anywhere from 15 to 30 g per day that is 1/2 to 1 ounce per day.it is a very critical time in your child's life.
