AAD: Studies have shown that older patients are especially at risk for antibiotic associated diarrhea (AAD). A dangerous variety called C. Difficile can cause anything from a mild diarrhea to pseudomembranous colitis which is contagious and can be fatal. Call the prescribing doctor right away if you have fever. Studies show probiotics not completely efficacious in preventing AAD. Hydrate.
