C diff infection: Antibiotic therapy can cause bacterial overgrowth of C difficile in the colon. You may need a stool culture for C diff or PCR test to clinch diagnosis before treatment is initiated for C difficile. It is important to see your primary care physician if you are having abdominal pain, fevers and diarrhea.
