DVT Phlebitis WOW: Severe calf pain can be due to a muscle strain. However, complains of severe calf pain enhanced by laying down or walking, suggests that the problem is more serious. You need to have your leg evaluated immediately to make sure your pain is not due to a blood clot in the leg. I would not wait too long to have this seen as the lack of treatment could have catastrophic consequences.
