Hydronephrosis.: The term hydronephrosis refers to a dilation of the ureter, which delivers urine from the kidneys to the bladder. In your case, the ureter on the left side is dilated for some reason. There may be a partial blockage, but no definite blockage and seemingly no kidney stone (which can cause said blockage). Would need more info from you to surmise why this may be happening.

Swelling: For some reason that the radiologist cannot determine from the study - the left kidney is slightly swollen. There is no obvious obstruction in the ureter (tube from the kidney) but a partial obstruction could be present but not seen on the scan.

The report suggests: ...that there's a partial obstruction somewhere along the urinary tract. I believe that the report says "of uncertain significance" b/c the reviewer doesn't have enough medical information to determine its significance. You need to talk with your doctor about this. A kidney stone, for example, can cause this kind of finding. Best wishes! Dr. Anne.

See answer: Possible, not definite, partial obstruction to the flow of urine from the left kidney(Such as a kidney stone that has traveled to the ureter causing a partial blockage).
