A member asked:

Ive had two chest xrays recently. they were clear is there a high chance they could miss lung mets? the hospital wont give me a ct scan on the chest.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

CT has high dose: Initial chest and abdomen CT for staging is often done for many primary cancers. The need for CT depends on the primary tumor mostly due to the likelihood of mets. given the type and size of the cancer. An old article: "The significance of pulmonary nodules detected by CT but not by chest radiography in tumour staging" in Clin Rad 44:6 Dec 1991, Pp 410-412 http://www.sciencedirect.com/scienc
