Not due to surgery: Swelling of foot and ankle is not a complication of Hernia Surgery.I suggest you have your Doctor check it. It may be due to edema caused by the Iv Fluids if given during the surgery.If it is painful then it may be some kind of trauma.But the surgery will not cause the swelling

Possible DVT: Consult your surgeon and get u/s of Lower extremities. May need to be on anticoagulants
