Palate nodule: On the hard or soft palate? Could be torus palatinus ( usually flesh colored) a bony growth of the palate which is benign or an adenoma, fibroma, tumor, retention cyst or granuloma (sarcoid), or infection like strep. F/u w/ doc and if not strep, ENT

Painful lump: It is impossible to diagnose without a visual examination. Any lesion or lump that lasts longer than 10 days should be examined. If it is painful, it should be examined ASAP. See your dentist or an oral surgeon.

Relax...: It is important to mention that the hard, painful lumps you notice on the roof of your mouth are usually benign, unless you have a serious underlying condition. Therefore, it is good idea to go see your GP for evaluation and possibe referral to ENT.
