What is your BP?: Most young people your age have normal Blood Pressure. To prevent High BP(Hypertension) you need to avoid overeating causing obesity.Do not smoke.Cut down added salt in your diet and exercise regularly . Get you BP checked when you visit your doctor for any reason. Good Luck. Sugar does not have any affect on BP and will not prevent it to go low or high.

Blood pressure: BP is not directly affected by dietary sugar. Unless you have diabetes, blood sugar is regulated. No one really needs to eat sugar, & most Americans eat far too much of it. BP can be influenced by salt, though. Most Americans eat too much salt too, but some people with low BP are actually prescribed a higher sodium (salt) diet to help keep BP up.

Young healthy male?: I don't have data on your height and weight to really give you much advice. Reducing sugar will not INDUCE a low blood sugar. If you are obese or overweight, have a family history of hypertension OR history of elevated blood pressures, self monitoring can be useful. Hope this helps!
