DirectPressureEar-ly: How did you do that?? OK,OK,I won't ask.First don't take any aspirin or Motrin or anything but Tylenol (acetaminophen) cuz they don't help the bleeding. And if you are taking any other medications that may affect your blood clotting,or if something's stuck in there, consult your regular doctor.Next, pack the ear canal with a lightly moistened napkin. If it still bleeds when you take it out in the am, it's doc time.

With normal clotting: function & sustained adequate pressure to the bleeding location, without moving, at least 5 minutes, will nearly always result in enough clotting to stop all bleeding. Exception: squirting arterial bleeding (Stopping this typically requires more knowledge of anatomy, skill & ~15 min of higher pressure, enough to stop bleeding). After stopped, be careful to not pull off the clot for several days.
