See PMR doc: Ribs connect the thoracic spine to chest wall at the costo chondral border. Inflammation here is costo chondritis. Having rib pain as you describe does not fit this definition. See a rheumatologist or per PMR doc to determine if this is a different problem like myocardial pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, or rib alignment disorder. Then, treatment can resolve this pain.
