Is it ok to take flonase indefinitely (as in for the rest of one's life)? i was prescribed flonase due to allergies exacerbating sleep apnea.

Flonase: Although it became OTC in some states, it doesn't mean it is totally safe to take indefinitely, I know you were prescribed the medicine, but again for a limited duration then get re-evaluated/relieved. Having sleep apnea means having problems with the upper airways, kindly keep the follow up with your doctor and counsel him/her about use of any medicine that you take regularly even OTC meds

Yes: Biopsy studies done several years out showed no deleterious effects in the nose. If this is the only steroid you are taking then systemic absorption is not likely to cause problems. Stay within the recommended dosing guidelines and be sure to aim it away from the septum. On the other hand sleep apnea is not typically due to nasal obstruction but rather fat accumulation in the nasopharyx.

Usually: Indefinitely is a long time. But generally, as long as it is used as directed with cpap it is ok. There are certainly cautions for anyone who overuses it or has a bleeding or immune system disorder.
