Persistent fever >: 72 hours of antibiotics for Acute Otitis Media means either the bacterium is resistant to the antibiotic or another cause for fever exists. Persistent pain alone can be from fluid or negative pressure in the Eustachian tubes. Her pediatrician has to look at her eardrums & do a tympanogram to know. Her pediodontist needs to check her loose tooth for signs of trauma or infection of her gums.
