Muscle spasm: Hiatal hernia can cause spasm secondary to reflux and later enough scar tissue from the burning of the acid or enough spasm in the muscle of the esophagus can cause the ring which is a structure that might need to be dilated. The motility problem either secondary to the reflux or could be related to stress or some other etiology . It can cause problem swallowing . No surgery for that . Good luck
