Yes: But, i will advise against it. In esophageal cancer surgery , typically right chest is opened, esophagus with cancer and surrounding non-essential tissues are removed and the stomach is pulled up into the chest after prep in the abdomen and hooked up to the remaining proximal part of the esophagus. Of and by itself, it is already a formidable surgery. Why add another non-critical heniorrhaphy?
