I don't think: your herniated disc is source of popping sensation. You should have your doctor investigate another cause.

Varies: A herniated disc can push on nerves that supply sensation in the hip and leg and are a fairly common cause of pain there. A disc that herniated can be associated with instability at times and this could potentially explain the popping and clicking. Don't hesitate to be seen for an accurate evaluation.
