See your doctor: You don't want it to be a herniated disc, which can happen when lifting, bending, pushing, pulling heavy objects that can stress the back severely. Usually popping sounds are just joints articulating (moving) over another, and don't cause pain by itself. Hopefully, it could be just a back muscle spasm, but only your doctor can evaluate it physically to diagnose it accurately. Don't delay.
