A member asked:

How common is it to confuse pcos with a problem with the adrenal glands? i'm concerned that could be the real issue behind my problems.

See a GYN endocrinol: There is significant overlap. Experienced DRs will help you. Certain tests can be employed. Most women with no or few menstrual periods who have obesity, acne, and acanthosis nigricans have polycystic ovaries. Even a small weight loss may help. Several meds are useful such as metformin and spironolactone. It is very important to define and treat these conditions.
