3-6hrs: off/on for 3-6hrs. You are just trying to get a good clot formed.....I am sure others will state 24hrs but that is unrealistic even for them to do so I say just do the best you can. You will have spotting of blood but I would change out every three hours until the gauze is showing light blood staining. Then you should be in the clear but keep extra gauze just in case bleeding increases agai/
