Less often: If you are talking about changing the small, 2x2 sterile gauze given after your extraction, it is best to limit switching. I hope you were given a written post-surgery instruction, but if not, follow: 1) keep your hands clean. 2) fold 2x2 gauze smaller, or into a roll. 3) place over extraction site, and gently bite down to apply pressure. 4) if bleeding continues, get a post-op check.
