Skin abscesses are : usually caused by Staphylococcus aureus. Some heal on their own if you put warm compresses on them 4-5 times/day before & after the pus drains out. Even if you take a full course of antibiotics, when a few " staph" germs remain under the skin after it heals over, they can overgrow & re-form an abscess.
