Differs for everyone: As with everything, it depends. Men may replete iron faster than women who menstruate. People with certain types of absorption problems in the small intestine may absorb less than others. Your doctor should reevaluate your hemoglobin and iron levels and decide if your dose should be adjusted; rarely, we give iron as a one time IV dose.
