Stop moving around!!: A boot might certainly help if the boot can satisfactorily hold the toe with enough stability. Another method would be to apply the stabilizing force directly to the toe. A compression wrap or taping for instance could to the trick. A combination of boot and splint might be best. Without seeing the x-ray, this is all hypothetical, remember that. Why not see a specialist?
