Petechiae are small: dots that represent capillaries' leaking blood into the skin. It seems that you are appropriately concerned about your son's recurrent petechiae, but hesitant to take him to his pediatrician, who must examine him & order appropriate blood work in order to diagnose the cause, tell you how serious it is, provide treatment or refer him to a Pediatric Hematologist, if necessary. So go, already.
