Infection: A tooth abscess is an infection. It will cause an increase in white blood cell count. It will spread, damaging gums, bone, heart, kidneys, etc. can't be fixed with a pill. Requires root canal treatment or extraction. Delaying treatment will only allow infection to worsen and spread. Call your Dentist NOW, before infection gets out of hand.

Most of the time: The distinguishing feature is that there is an obvious dental cause, and signs and symptoms in most cases. The blood test test shows abnormal results: decreased platelet count, slightly increase in WBC and occasionally, an abscess can lead to a blood infection known as sepsis.
