A member asked:

Is it bad not to wash organic carrots from the grocery store if they have dirt/soil on what are health risks?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes!!! All produce: should be thoroughly rinsed & cleaned with a vegetable scrubber. I prefer this to peeling since many nutrients are on the skin. Also remove the outer leaves of cabbage and other leaf veggies & cut the bottoms off. I usually wait until I'm about ready to prepare produce to rinse it; otherwise the moisture makes it soggy. Contaminated produce can cause food-borne illness & exposure to pesticides.
