I am on bydureon (exenatide) injections for my diabetes my insurance company notified me that they will not be paying for this drug in 2016 they recommend a replacement drug called trulicity, will this drug work as well as the bydoreon for me thank you?

Yes: There has been recent formulary changes. Trulicity should work equally well as the Bydureon (exenatide).

Neither recommended: Bydureon (exenatide) is very expensive, it does not reduce the risk of stroke and heart attack and may cause pancreatitis and possibly thyroid cancer. Trulicity is a similar medication with the same cautions as Bydureon (exenatide). Likely: Trulicity will likely work as well with less lumps under the skin and is easier to use with less preparation before giving the injection.
