Can there be any research into the possibility of treating mental health disorders with zolpidem?

Maybe: But i doubt they'll find anything beyond its effectiveness as a sleep aid. Zolpidem (ambien) is designed to work through its action on a subset of benzodiazepine receptors. The hope was to find a medication that would provide the sleep benefit of a benzodiazepine without some of the problems, like physical dependency.
