Considerations: Agree with Dr Fowler, but some possibilities include stress fracture in foot or ankle, nerve irritation over ankle called tarsal tunnel syndrome, plantar fasciitis, heel spur. A Podiatrist should be consulted if this persists, but curtail running until this stabilizes.

Stop everything.: The immediate treatment is to stay off the foot. Use crutches to get around. Elevate and apply ice to the areas that are the sorest. You might check for swelling and discoloration such as bruising or redness. The first objective is to get the foot and leg to calm down. Then reassess to isolate just where the pain is. If things calm down you can hold off seeing a doctor. If not, have it examined.
