Tendinitis?: Posterior tibial tendinitis would be high on my differential. This is often seen in people who change running workouts or shoe wear. Over pronation is a very common cause of this problem and may be addressed with shoe wear, orthotics, or focused therapy. See a good pain specialist, orthopedic, physiatrist, or sports med physician for evaluation for formal diagnosis.

Rest, support foot: The area you are describing is very possibly the posterior tibial tendon, the major arch supporting tendon in the foot and ankle. More than likely, you have an overuse injury resulting for either under-training, under-stretching, or running in poorly supportive or older shoes, or a combination of all of the above. Avoid barefeet and flat shoes and use a slight lift or heeled shoe and rest.

Back off: You need to take a rest and elevate the foot and use a compression wrap. You may be developing tendonitis or tarsal tunnel syndrome.
