Healthy Sleep: I admire you for eating healthy and lifting weights. 7 hours of sleep is within Normal Range. “No matter how much I try” is activating your mind at bedtime affecting quality of sleep. Diphenhydramine is not medication for sleep. Exercise in evening; Breathing Relaxation and Meditation before sleeping. Discuss with your psychiatrist Diagnosis, benefits and side effects of Medications; and Therapy

Sleep needs vary: from person to person. Your amount of sleep may be fine for you but not enough for someone else. Do you fall asleep when you are supposed to be working or are you tired most of the day? If so, please see your doctor. Your history indicates OCD and perhaps this is at least part of what has prompted your question. Peace and good health.
