Needs investigation: Why was the test done? Either count is lower than normal. It would be prudent to discuss it with your doctor who has more information about your health. All lab results need to be interpreted in the clinical context. If your other cell counts are also low, it is all the all more important to see your doctor at your earliest.

Thrombocytopenia: The medical term for low platelets is thrombocytopenia. A count of 118 (probably 118,000 per mm3) is already low, and 64 is getting toward a level that could risk abnormal bleeding. If you have a known health problem that causes thrombocytopenia, discuss it with your doctor. If no such diagnosis is known, work with your doctor ASAP to learn the cause. This could be quite serious. Good luck.
