OIC ?: OIC = opioid-induced constipation. Assuming ileus, obstruction, alcohol-related pancreatitis have been excluded, ask your doctor to discuss the pros & cons of continuing your present consumption of methadone and alcohol, as well as treatment options for the differential diagnosis as mentioned.

New drug out: that is JUST for constipation due to narcotics. The problme with laxatives is that the colon gets used to them and only works when they are there. The new drug is MOVANTIK
