A member asked:

How long does it take for alcohol induced acute gastritis to recover? clear liquid diet for 7d, still epigastric pain. is it better to advance to full liquid or bland soft diet and tolerate pain/bloating, or to stay on clear liquid diet for longer?

I wonder if you are taking medication for neutralizing gastric acidity. If you have not taken anything you can take either famotidine (Pepcid AC) or omeprazole (Prilosec OTC) and advance diet to bland soft diet. You can also advance the diet if already taking acid suppression medication but you should consider changing the medication. You should talk to your family or GI doc. Take care!

There is not enough information here to give you solid advice on what to do. How do you know you had alcoholic gastritis? Which tests were done? What were seen in those tests? If you have not seen a gastroenterologist, it may be a good idea after having not much improvement after seven days of clear liquids. Good luck.

In addition to the previous excellent advice, I want to advise that you be checked for acute pancreatitis, if you haven't already been tested for it.
