Dentist tried to pull tooth out, wouldnt budge. 2 wk later stabbing pain in gum behind the tooth! looks normal. xray shows normal. any ideas why hurts?

Yes: Tooth and bone have been traumatized. Please see an oral surgeon if your general dentist could not extract the tooth.

Lots: Tooth and/or bone may have been damaged in failed attempt at removal. If tooth is abscesses it can cause pain. Partially impacted tooth can act as bacteria conduit to infect surrounding gums/bone. Why didn't Dentist refer you immediately to an Oral Surgeon? Please see one now.
