Choose with care.: You might want to check with your surgeon before you decide on this particular shoe style. I don't know if this shoe is what he had in mind when he meant supportive shoes. Try to be very specific in the concept of supportive shoes. All shoes offer some degree of support, you need to select a design that truly matches not only your functional needs but also your aesthetic needs as well.

Varies: Usually when a surgeon recommends particular shoe wear after a bunion surgery, what he is trying to prevent is recurrence or else address some other problems with the alignment of your foot. Recurrence becomes more likely if the front of the shoe is significantly more narrow than your forefoot. In general a supportive foot will hold your foot in neutral alignment and have a good arch support.
